2021 Chocolate that cares

Our latest chocolatey achievement: all NZ-made Griffin’s chocolate will now be made with cocoa that is Rain Forest Alliance certified. This shows our chocolate-loving customers that our ingredients are produced with a focus on fair trade, positive working conditions, and respect for the natural environment.

2005 A Chocolate Mixing Revolution

Back in 2005, Griffin’s chocolate-making process changed forever, with the purchase of our Swiss Rolled refiner. This specialist blending machine helps reduce the size of the particles in our chocolate, making it finer and smoother. It’s hard to believe, but the change made our biscuits tastier than ever.

During WW2, our bikkies made their way around the world, helping feed Kiwi and US soldiers stationed overseas. Our factory hummed with activity 24 hours a day, making tens of thousands of biscuits for rations packs while keeping up with demand at home.

1898 NZ’s Chocolate-crafting pioneers

Griffin’s began crafting chocolate in our small Nelson factory way back in 1898, after making biscuits for almost a decade. Our first creation was ‘Cyclists Chocolate’, designed to give cyclists an energy boost while out and about. From there, we kept working to perfect the craft – and the rest is history.
